Foundation Skills: September 2010

All Four Paws ATG is looking forward to presenting our first Foundation Skills course in September 2010.

You can read more about All Four Paws on the rest of the website.

The Foundation Skills course will emphasise building focus and motivation for agility, as well as looking at some of the basic skills needed for future agility success. Handlers and dogs will learn about reward and motivation, working through distractions, body awareness, and reading body language on the flat, as well as focussing on teaching simple agility-based behaviours.

As the course progresses, some basic jump work will be introduced, primarily based on Susan Salo's methods, and we will discuss the various options for contact training. All exercises will be age appropriate to the individual dogs.

Dogs should be over 6 months old, have a basic level of obedience and be friendly around other dogs. All breeds and sizes welcome. Previous handler experience in agility would be ideal, but not required. (Whilst this class is aimed at puppies between 6-12months, it is more than appropriate for older dogs with no previous agility experience.)

We train in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, and this Foundation Skills course will run from September 2010 from 7:30 - 8:00pm. This class is currently FULL.
